استقبل السيد الرئيس عبد الفتاح السيسي رئيس جمهورية مصر العربية السيد أندرو بارسون رئيس اللجنة البارالمبية الدولية، بحضور الدكتور أشرف صبحي وزير الشباب والرياضة، والدكتور حسام الدين مصطفى رئيس اللجنة البارالمبية المصرية.
وقد أكد السيد الرئيس عبدالفتاح السيسي اهتمام الدولة الشديد بالمواطنين من ذوي الهمم باعتبارهم منحة من الله، وأن الدولة خصصت لهم يوم “قادرون باختلاف” للاحتفال بهم سنوياً، وأنها تعمل على تيسير انخراطهم في مجريات الحياة بشكل طبيعي، بما في ذلك في مجال الرياضة.
وأعرب السيد الرئيس عبدالفتاح السيسي عن حرص مصر على التعاون والتنسيق مع اللجنة البارالمبية الدولية، والتزام الحكومة بالعمل دائماً نحو تمكين الرياضيين البارالمبيين، مشيراً سيادته إلى أن الدولة المصرية قد حققت في السنوات العشر الأخيرة طفرة غير مسبوقة في البنية الأساسية للرياضة في مصر، بما في ذلك إنشاء المدينة الأولمبية بالعاصمة الإدارية الجديدة الجاهزة لاستضافة الأحداث والبطولات الرياضية الكبرى وفقاً للمعايير الدولية.
وأشار السفير محمد الشناوي المتحدث الرسمي باسم رئاسة الجمهورية، أن رئيس اللجنة البارالمبية الدولية قد أعرب عن تقديره الشديد لجهود السيد الرئيس عبدالفتاح السيسي والدولة المصرية في تعزيز منظومة الرياضة بشكل عام، وتمكين الرياضيين البارالمبيين المصريين، فضلاً عما تشهده مصر من تطور كبير في البنية التحتية الرياضية، لاسيما على صعيد إقامة منشآت رياضية وفقاً للمعايير الدولية لتمكين الرياضيين ومن ضمنهم الرياضيين من ذوي الهمم، إضافة إلى تحديث منظومة الحوافز والمعسكرات والتدريبات للرياضيين البارالمبيين، مؤكداً تطلعه للتعاون مع مصر خاصة في ظل استضافة مصر لعدد من الفعاليات والمسابقات البارالمبية الدولية في الفترة المقبلة.
Today, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met with the President of the International Paralympic Committee (IPC), Mr. Andrew Parsons.The meeting was attended by Minister of Youth and Sports Dr. Ashraf Sobhi and President of the Egyptian Paralympic Committee Dr. Hossam El-Din Mostafa.
President El-Sisi emphasized the state’s strong commitment to citizens with disabilities, considering them a blessing from Allah. The President noted that the state has designated a special day, “Differently-Abled People,” to annually celebrate them. Furthermore, the government is actively working to facilitate their full engagement into various aspects of life, including sports.
President El-Sisi expressed Egypt’s willingness to cooperate and coordinate with the IPC, reaffirming the government’s dedication to continually empowering Paralympic athletes.
The President pointed out that over the past 10 years Egypt has achieved an unprecedented leap in sports infrastructure, including the establishment of the Olympic City in the New Administrative Capital, which is ready to host major international sports events and competitions in line with global standards.
The Spokesman for the Presidency, Ambassador Mohamed El-Shennawy, said the President of the IPC expressed deep appreciation for the efforts of President El-Sisi and the Egyptian government in enhancing the overall sports system and empowering Egyptian Paralympic athletes.
Mr. Parsons also commended the significant developments in Egypt’s sports infrastructure, particularly in the construction of sports facilities that meet international standards, thus enabling athletes, including those with disabilities, to train effectively. Additionally, he highlighted the modernization of the incentive systems, training camps, and coaching programs for Paralympic athletes.
Mr.Parsons reiterated that he looked forward to increased cooperation with Egypt, especially as the country is set to host several international Paralympic events and competitions in the near future.
